I mentioned in my last post that I’m starting a new Boot Camp class with Muvement in Manchester, CT.
So, I thought we would really put them to the test and do a new “before” picture.
This time – full body, less clothes, and with MEASUREMENTS.
But first, a little more about Muvement:
I’ve had a friend who has been going there for…maybe a year? and she SWEARS by them. She’s been trying to get me to go for ages. At first, I was too committed to my current gym and couldn’t really afford it. And then the Groupon came out, but I was in the middle of the whole Hives-Horror of 2011.
Then, a few weeks ago, another Groupon was promoted and I bought it right away. 4 weeks of Unlimited Boot Camp sessions (And a free nutritional seminar!) for only $30! That’s quite a deal, so I snapped it up, and I went to my “orientation” class last night.
The whole thing was pretty informal. There were lots of people there. (It will be interesting to see who really sticks around for the fourth week. I pledge to be one of those people.) Michael and Seth gave us the whole story: 5 minute warm up, and then a circuit of 5-8 or so different activities. Exercise as hard and heavy as you can for about 45 seconds, rest and rotate for 15 seconds, start the next exercise. Things like lunges, kettle-bell squats, push ups, sit ups, battle ropes, pull ups…and they would rather see you working hard and then crapping out early because your body simply can’t handle anymore than doing a thousand squats without breaking a sweat. (Michael/Seth if you read this and I’m putting words in your mouth(s), feel free to speak up.) Total exercise time: ~25 minutes. Goal: Exhaustion.
Makes sense to me!
The nutritional seminar sounds like it will be good. Michael said a few times that he doesn’t think we’ll have heard this info before, so I’m interested to hear what they’ve got to say. As you all know, I’ve done a ton of reading on a million different nutrition philosophies, so anything they’ve got to say should be good.
So, without further ado, The Measurements:
(So depressing…)
Weight: We’ll go with Saturday’s 216.8, and I’ll continue to weigh in on Saturdays.
Waist: 39″
Hips: 49″
Bust: 42″
Arm: 17″
Thigh: 26″
And the “Before Bootcamp” picture:
So, there you have it. I’m going to aim for the 7am class tomorrow, but it may end up being the 5pm. I’ll try to blog every day I go, or at least weekly.
Will continue to log my calories on MyFitnessPal but NOT my fitness, and try to stick to the 1,700 some-odd calories and see if that moves the scale. Protein protein protein, and packing my food for work to try to avoid the mac and cheese pitfalls of the Aetna cafeteria. Also: More hiking.
Here we go!

You can do it Aslynn! Just make sure that you are eating enough—1700 seems like a lot, but when you are doing that intense of a workout you may need a little more. As long as you make sure it’s the good stuff (like you said protein and/or deep colored veggies) you will be fine!
Also, I’m putting on The Vagilogues in a couple of weeks and it always makes me think of you and miss you so much! I had such a wonderful time WNEC 2009 <3 Hope you're doing well!
